Avant de partir
Depuis l'aéroport
From Kotoka International Airport (ACC), the most convenient options are ride-hailing apps (Bolt/Yango) which cost 40-80 GHS ($3-6) to central areas like Osu. Official airport taxis are more expensive (80-120 GHS). There is no direct train; shared tro-tros are very cheap but complicated with luggage.
Se déplacer
Central neighborhoods like Osu and parts of Jamestown are very walkable for exploring within the area. However, crossing major roads can be dangerous due to traffic, and sidewalks are often uneven or occupied. Walking between different districts is not recommended due to distance, heat, and traffic.
Conseils sur place
- Greet people properly. Always say 'Good morning/afternoon/evening' before asking for anything. A simple greeting like 'Maakye' (Good morning in Twi) goes a very long way.
- For the best kelewele (spicy fried plantains), head to the vendors outside major supermarkets like Koala or MaxMart in Osu in the late afternoon.
- Download and use ride-hailing apps like Bolt and Yango. They are safer, more reliable, and cheaper than hailing random taxis and eliminate fare negotiation.
