Vor der Reise
Vom Flughafen
Tunis-Carthage International Airport (TUN) is just 7km from the city. The cheapest option is the 'Tunisair Express' bus (Line 635) to the city center for ~1 TND (30 min). Official taxis are available with a fixed fare of ~15-20 TND to the Medina/Ville Nouvelle (15-20 min). Ride-hailing apps like Bolt are also operational.
Unterwegs in der Stadt
The Ville Nouvelle (city center) around Avenue Bourguiba is very flat and walkable. The Medina is also best explored on foot, though its alleyways are narrow and winding. Distances between major districts (e.g., Medina to Belvédère) are better covered by transport.
Tipps von Einheimischen
- For the best Bardo Museum experience, go on a weekday morning to avoid the crowds of large tour groups that arrive in the afternoon.
- When shopping in the Medina, always start by politely haggling. A good rule is to counter-offer at 50-60% of the initial asking price and meet somewhere in the middle.
- Carry small change (1, 5 TND notes and coins). Many small shops, taxis, and market stalls will not have change for large 50 TND bills.
