Antes de ir
Desde el aeropuerto
Wattay International Airport is just 4km from the city center. Taxis charge a fixed 50,000 LAK ($2.50) to most hotels. Tuk-tuks are slightly cheaper at 40,000 LAK but less comfortable with luggage. There's no public bus from the airport.
Cómo moverse
The city center along the Mekong is very walkable, with most major temples and attractions within a 30-minute stroll. However, distances to Pha That Luang or Buddha Park require transport. Sidewalks are often obstructed, so walking in the street is common.
Consejos de la zona
- The best baguettes aren't at fancy cafes but from street vendors near the morning market. Look for carts with lines of locals in the early morning.
- For the authentic Mekong sunset experience, skip the touristy bars and buy a Beer Lao from a convenience store to enjoy on the riverbank steps with locals.
- Tuk-tuks don't have meters. Always negotiate the price before getting in. A short ride within the center should be 20,000-30,000 LAK.
